Baking sheet
Parchment paper
Small bowl
Spoon
Knife
- 1 fresh corn cob organic if possible
- 2 tbsp rolled oats
- 1 tbsp millet seeds
- 1 tbsp flaxseeds
- 1 tbsp sunflower seeds unsalted, shelled
- 1 tsp honey optional, for binding
- 1 tbsp apple puree unsweetened
Preheat the Oven:Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
Prepare the Corn Cob:Carefully cut the small corn cob into 1-inch thick slices. You should get several mini corn cob rounds that are perfect for hamster-sized snacks
Mix the Coating:In a small bowl, combine the rolled oats, millet seeds, flaxseeds, and sunflower seeds. Add the honey (if using) and apple puree. Mix everything well until you get a sticky, seed-coated mixture.
Coat the Corn Cobs:Take each corn cob slice and roll it in the seed mixture, pressing gently to ensure the seeds stick to the cob. The honey and apple puree will help the seeds adhere to the corn.
Bake the Corn Cob Pops:Place the coated corn cob slices on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the corn and seeds are lightly toasted. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Cool Down:Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the Corn Cob Pops cool completely. The cooling process will also help the seeds adhere better to the corn.
Serve and Store:Once cooled, the Cozy Corn Cob Pops are ready to serve! Offer them to your hamster as a special treat, keeping an eye on portion sizes to ensure a balanced diet. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to a week.
