Equipment

  • Mini muffin tin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or whisk
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 small egg beaten
  • 1 tbsp safe greens finely chopped
  • 1 tsp carrot finely grated
  • A pinch of fresh parsley finely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Make sure to position the rack in the middle, so our little goodies cook evenly.
  • Prepare your mini muffin tin by lightly greasing it. Just a dab will do, darling, we don't want our frittatas too slippery!
  • Mix the ingredients: In your mixing bowl, combine the beaten egg with the chopped greens, grated carrot, and parsley if using. Stir gently to combine everything without beating too much air into it—we want them fluffy, not puffy!
  • Fill the muffin tin: Spoon the mixture into the mini muffin cups, filling each one about halfway. These treats should be bite-sized, just right for tiny paws to handle.
  • Bake: Slide your muffin tin into the oven and bake for about 10 minutes. You'll know they're done when the centers are set and the edges start to turn golden.
  • Cooling time: Let the frittatas cool in the tin for a minute or two, then gently transfer them to a wire rack. It’s important they cool down completely before serving to your hamster, as their little mouths are quite sensitive.
  • Serving: Offer one frittata to your hamster as a treat. Remember, these are treats and not a meal replacement, so moderation is key, sugar!
