Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Small loaf tin (hamster-sized)
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp ground oats
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 carrot finely chopped
  • small broccoli floret finely chopped
  • 2 tsp water
  • A pinch of dried herbs like basil or parsley, safe for hamsters

Instructions

  • Prepare the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Make sure to position the rack in the middle.
  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, ground oats, flax seeds, and chia seeds. Give them a good whisk to ensure they're blended well.
  • Add the Veggies: Gently fold in the grated carrot and finely chopped broccoli, making sure they're evenly distributed.
  • Forming the Loaf: Slowly add in the water and mix until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency. Sprinkle in your dried herbs and give it another gentle mix.
  • Into the Tin: Scoop out your mixture and press it into your small loaf tin, making sure it's packed tightly and evenly.
  • Bake the Goodness: Place the loaf tin in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Once done, the loaf should be firm and slightly golden.
  • Cool Down: After baking, remove from the oven and let it cool down for about 10-15 minutes. Once cooled, gently remove the loaf from the tin.
  • Serve with Love: Slice a tiny piece and serve it to your furry little friend. Remember, always introduce new foods gradually and in moderation.

Notes

Store any leftovers in a cool, dry place and consume within a week for best freshness. Always monitor your hamster when introducing new foods.
