Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup organic kale washed and stems removed
  • 1/2 cup rganic carrot peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your nuggets will bake evenly.
  • Blend the Veggies: In your food processor or blender, blend the kale and carrot until they form a smooth paste. You're aiming for a consistency that's easy to shape but not too watery.
  • Combine Ingredients: Transfer the veggie mixture to a mixing bowl. Stir in the whole wheat flour and olive oil. Add water a little at a time until the mixture is just sticky enough to form into nuggets.
  • Shape the Nuggets: Using your hands or a spoon, shape the mixture into small, bite-sized nuggets. Remember, these are for tiny hamster mouths, so keep them small and manageable.
  • Prepare for Baking: Line your baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the nuggets on the sheet, making sure they're not touching each other.
  • Bake the Nuggets: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the nuggets are firm and slightly golden.
  • Cool Down: Let the nuggets cool completely before offering them to your hamster. This is crucial, as hot food can harm your pet.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Offer a nugget to your hamster as a treat. As always, moderation is key – these are treats, not a meal replacement.
  • Storing the Treats: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
