Equipment

  • Small plate or chopping board
  • Small, sharp knife
  • Tiny spoon
  • Toothpick

Ingredients

Wrap Base:

  • 1 large spinach leaf or romaine lettuce leaf for bigger hamsters

Fillings:

  • 1 tsp dandelion greens finely chopped
  • 1 small edible flower (like a pansy, marigold, or chamomile—check they're pesticide-free and hamster-safe!
  • 3 tiny slivers of carrot for crunch
  • 1 pinch parsley or cilantro chopped
  • 1 small piece unsweetened apple diced

Optional Garnish:

  • 1 pinch of rolled oats for a sprinkle of crunch

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Wrap Base. Start by selecting a fresh, clean spinach or romaine leaf. Make sure there are no tears, as this will be your "wrap." Gently rinse it under cool water and pat it dry with a soft paper towel.
  • Chop and Prep the Fillings. Take your dandelion greens, carrot slivers, apple dice, and parsley, and chop them into teeny-tiny pieces—remember, we’re making hamster-sized burritos!
  • Lay Out the Wrap. Lay the spinach or romaine leaf flat on your plate or chopping board. If it’s too big for your hamster (looking at you, dwarf hamster owners!), trim it to a more manageable size.
  • Assemble the Filling. Sprinkle the dandelion greens, carrots, apple pieces, and parsley along the center of your wrap. Place your edible flower on top for that extra pizzazz and a hint of sweetness.
  • Roll it Up. Carefully fold one side of the leaf over the filling, then gently roll it up like a tiny burrito. You can use a toothpick to help keep the roll in place while you prepare it, but don’t give it to your hamster with the toothpick—safety first, my darlings!
  • Optional Garnish. If you’d like, sprinkle a teeny pinch of rolled oats along the edges of the wrap for a little extra crunch.
  • Serve with Love. Place the wrap in your hamster’s feeding area and watch their little nose wiggle with curiosity and delight. Oh, it’s pure joy to see them investigate and nibble!
